All the thanks
I started this business hoping to feed some excellent food to my friends and family. Through the evolution of Twisted Roots, I’ve learned so much. Mostly, I've learned that running a small business is like raising a child- it takes a village and the village surrounding me is the most amazing and supportive group anyone could ask for. There are no words of thanks large enough to express my gratitude to all of them, but I’ll do my best.
The Villagers:
Terry Town- my partner in this adventure and all others. Terry is the driving force behind the new kitchen (and also the lead taste tester!). He has spent countless hours, after work and on the weekends, building our future. He is also the grower of all our amazing produce- which will be back in action soon!
Vicky Walker (Mama)- The origin of my passion for good food. My mom is endlessly supportive- she is my sounding board, right hand for catering, label writer, and the best dog grandma ever!
Ben Walker (Pops)- The reason Twisted Roots has a new home. Ben worked in the construction industry for decades and brought all that knowledge and experience to turning a spider filled outbuilding into a beautiful commercial kitchen. His help has been absolutely vital to our success.
Megan and Andy Metzger- My brother and sister-in-law are the best humans. Megan has done so much to create the brand that is Twisted Roots. She designed the logo, the labels, this website, and is my go to for all things style. My big brother is an amazing cheerleader. His insights and encouragement are everything to me.
Max Town- Max has been so amazingly helpful. Scrubbing our used equipment until it shines, pulling screws and staples from every surface of the building, cleaning the “jobsite”, and so much more. He is an incredible kid and I’m so fortunate to be a part of his life!
Dave Town- The patriarch of the Town clan. Dave has come out of retirement to help Terry install the refrigeration. He works for chicken salad, lemonade, and love. I am so thankful for his help and encouragement!
Debbie Town- One of the most creative people I’ve ever met. Deb is such an inspiration to me, and as a master gardener, is so helpful with our gardens and mini orchard.
Ben Town- Ben has been holding down the fort at Town Refrigeration while Terry works on the kitchen. Amazing to watch the brothers Town work!
Randy Drage- The master of the excavator. I’ve never seen that level of precision with such a large machine in my life! Randy came out in the summer of 2024 and dug a massive 5 foot deep trench in our backyard for the water and sewer line for the kitchen. I am absolutely amazed by his skill!
The rest of our family, while not close enough to help with the physical work, has been in our corner the whole way:

And last but most definitely not least, my customers. I have the best customers anyone could ask for. I wish I could name everyone, but for now, I want to specifically thank all my friends at Mountain Humane- You all gave me a home filled with so much kindness and joy. Courtney, Carla, Ashley, Megan, Kelly, Brent, and all the other people who make that place what it is.
